Celebrating Faith in Action 2019

On Thursday, June 6th the anniversary of the D-Day Landings, Metropolitan Jerome hosted the multi-faith event “Celebrating Faith in Action” during National Volunteers Week. The event took place in Brighton’s iconic Open Market, enabling faith led or inspired community and social action projects to advertise, inform and engage the general public about their work.

The recently elected Mayor of Brighton & Hove and MEP, Alexandra Phillips opened the event and Metropolitan Jerome as Chair of the city’s Faith Council accompanied her on a tour of the various stalls, introducing the faith leaders and representatives and their particular focus on work in the community. The multi-faith charity, Brighton & Hove Faith in Action facilitated the event and His Grace was joined by fellow trustees, the Venerable Martin Lloyd Williams (Diocese of Chichester), Fiona Sharpe (Sussex Jewish Representative Council), Sabri Ben Ameur (Brighton & Hove Muslim Forum) and Simon Williams (CityCoast Church).

Among the stall-holders were representatives of the following faith groups, Brighton & Hove Muslim Forum, Al Medinah Mosque, Brighton Baha’i, Interfaith Contact Group, the Mother’s Union, the Brighton Oratory, Dorset Garden’s Methodist Church, YMCA Downslink Chaplaincy, Brighton Spiritualist Church, CityCoast Church, Time to Talk Befriending, SVP Towerhouse Project, Diocese of Chichester Interfaith Office, The Village MCC, Brighton & Hove Council’s Fostering Service.
