Today’s Homily: St Francis Xavier

Today, we celebrate St. Francis Xavier, a towering figure of missionary zeal and holiness, who exemplified the Great Commission of Christ: “Go into the whole world and preach the Gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Born in Spain in 1506, Francis left behind worldly ambitions after encountering St. Ignatius of Loyola and devoted his life to the Society of Jesus. Traveling to India, the East Indies, and Japan, he tirelessly proclaimed the Gospel, baptizing tens of thousands and bringing the light of Christ to lands that had never heard His name. His life challenges us to reflect on our own missionary spirit and to embrace our call to bring Christ to the world, whether in distant lands or within our own homes and communities.
