Today’s Homily: St Peter Chrysologus

As the bishop of Ravenna, St. Peter Chrysologus was renowned for his sermons, which were concise, clear, and deeply theological. He understood that the truths of our faith, though profound, must be preached in ways that touch the hearts and minds of the faithful. His sermons addressed the challenges of his time, defending the Church against the heresies of Arianism and Monophysitism, which threatened to distort the very nature of Christ.

With boldness and precision, he taught that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, emphasizing the mystery of the Incarnation as the cornerstone of our faith. His words were not only golden for their eloquence but also for their fidelity to the truth.

St. Peter Chrysologus reminds us that eloquence is not merely about beautiful words but about fidelity to the Word of God. His life and teaching call us to embrace our role as salt and light in the world, preserving the truth of the Gospel and radiating its light through our words and actions.
